[AstroPy] pywcs problem on Linux

To make the problem clear, I have reinstalled Python 2.5.4 and other  
modules. But the problem still exists. I would appreciate it if you  
could give me any further advise. Followings are done on SL4.7 (64  
bit) with GCC 3.4.

1) Python 2.5.4
$ sudo rm -rf /usr/local/bin/py* /usr/local/lib/python2.5 /usr/local/ 
lib/libpython2.5.so*
$ cd sw/Python-2.5.4
$ ./configure --prefix=/usr/local --enable-shared
$ make
$ su
# make install
$ which python
/usr/local/bin/python
$ python
Python 2.5.4 (r254:67916, May  7 2009, 11:11:36)
[GCC 3.4.6 20060404 (Red Hat 3.4.6-10)] on linux2

2) numpy, scipy, pyfits, pywcs, ...
$ su
# yum erase numpy (this is for pre-installed python 2.3)
$ cd ../numpy-1.2.1
$ rm -rf build
$ python setup.py build
$ su
# python setup.py install

3) sanity check
$ find / -name numpy
/usr/local/lib/python2.5/site-packages/numpy
/usr/local/lib/python2.5/site-packages/numpy/core/include/numpy
