[AstroPy] Extracting Stellar Spectra from IFU cubes

Hey all,

After the success with my centroid question, I thought I post this to the list as well. I am trying to extract stellar spectra from more or less bad IFU data. I have written very simple software that extracts a aperture and uses a sky annulus to get the skyline spectra and subtract one from the other (not very sophisticated, I know). Has anyone done this in a smarter way?
