Mmh, I'm afraid I can't reproduce this problem at all. I've tried
emacs, xemacs, and Krishna's trick, and it always works correctly for
me.
If anyone has any ideas... I'm wondering if it could be a locale
problem, but I know little enough about i18n that I'm not sure where
to start.
