[IPython-User] installation failure, no section "commit hash"

Hm, I seem to be able to build just fine on my Python 2.6 (2.6.7 | 2.6.5).

What are the contents of IPython/.git_commit_info.ini ?
and what do you get with:

    from ConfigParser import ConfigParser
    cfg_parser = ConfigParser()
    cfg_parser.read('IPython/.git_commit_info.ini')
    print cfg_parser.sections()
