+1 from me:
- For people searching for a question that's already been asked, a
dedicated Q&A site reveals useful information much more conveniently than
mailing list archives.
- People asking questions don't have to sign up to a moderately busy
mailing list to get an answer.
- The format encourages a wider pool of users to offer answers, whereas I
think mailing lists encourage more deference to experts.
- At least myself and Min are already regularly checking the ipython tag on
SO, so there's a decent track record of questions getting answers.
