Gah! My bad! When I convinced easy_install to grab the source, it
grabbed numpy-0.9.6-py2.4-linux-i686.tar.gz instead, which of course is a
binary package.
*why* it grabbed that one is another story (that's not my platform!
I'm on py2.4-linux-x86_64).
