If you own the copyright, you can license it anyway you want 
at any time.  You have already licensed it under the GFDL,
but you can license it other ways as well.

If that is really the goal, then just include a statement 
placing it in the public domain.  E.g.,
Copyright: This document has been placed in the public domain.
If you want attribution, use an attribution license:
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.5/
(Be sure to say what you want as attribution.)
