Are you running on a 64 bit machine?  I'll fix the test (which was
written on a 32 bit machine), but I also noticed some strange
behaviour:

In [11]: N.intp('0xfffffffffffffff',16)
Out[11]: 1152921504606846975

In [12]: N.intp('0xffffffffffffffff',16)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
exceptions.TypeError                                 Traceback (most recent call last)

/home/stefan/<ipython console>

TypeError: function takes exactly 1 argument (2 given)
