I normally put the MD5 information in a separate file in the same 
repository.  Something like:

http://www.pytables.org/download/stable/

where the MD5 hashes are in pytables-2.0.4.md5.  The MD5 signatures can 
be computed easily by using the 'cfv' utility:

cfv -C -t md5 -f pytables-$VERSION.md5 *
