Same on numpy 1.4.1.  I also would have predicted an error in that
situation.  For example in matlab:

a =

     1     2     3     4     5     6     7     8     9    10

>> b = 1:10

b =

     1     2     3     4     5     6     7     8     9    10

>> a(b) = 11:20

a =

    11    12    13    14    15    16    17    18    19    20

>> a(b) = 11:21
???  In an assignment  A(I) = B, the number of elements in B and
 I must be the same.

Is there any reason not to do that?
