----------------------+-----------------------------------------------------
  Reporter:  kilian   |       Owner:  somebody
      Type:  defect   |      Status:  closed
  Priority:  normal   |   Milestone:  1.5.1
 Component:  Other    |     Version:  1.4.0
Resolution:  invalid  |    Keywords:
----------------------+-----------------------------------------------------
Changes (by pv):

  * milestone:  Unscheduled => 1.5.1

Comment:

 The good reason is that the alternative is checking integer overflow
 manually, and that the output type of an ufunc should depend only on the
 input type, not on the input values.
