 $ sed -n -e '3372 p' numpy/core/src/multiarray/scalartypes.c.src
 NPY_NO_EXPORT int

 Doesn't help:

 (gdb) p k
 $12 = 255
 (gdb) p _npy_next_larger_type_table
 $13 =
 "\377\003\004\005\006\a\b\t\n\377\377\f\r\377\017\020\377\377\377\377\377\377\377\v"
 (gdb) p _npy_next_larger_type_table[k]
 $14 = 0 '\000'
