Comment:

 The patch needs to be updated to current numpy testing facilities, so
 setting the status to needs_work and the priority to low.

 Otherwise I think the patch addresses the problem well, but I don't know
 how practical is this problem.

 I suggest to come back to applying this patch as soon as the problem is
 reported again.
