Yes.  I think Fernando Perez also tried with gcc v 3.x and didn't have any luck.
I'd love for this to work, but don't have time to get it going right now.

It's a long shot, but maybe the blitz++ crowd has already fixed the issue and we
can just update to a newer version of blitz...
