I've just been reading the blitz mailing lists (should've done this 
first in hindsight), and 
someone there asks the same question about using unsigned quantities 
for array indices.

The upshot is that blitz doesn't support them because it has support 
for negative indices.

Sorry for wasting your time Eric, still it's a good thing to know I 
suppose.
