Well only partly.  After your post, I changed it so that array objects 
did not get wrapped up, and then Fernando convinced me to have all 
objects not get wrapped with a proxy. 

The masked array tests have done the most testing of object arrays, I 
think.  It's been very helpful in tracking down problems in the past...
