[SciPy-dev] GSOC project discussion on improving datasource and its integration.

I am masters students in data engineering and interested in contributing to
scipy. I need some directions to how to start with it.  I know python and
have worked on projects including data mining , web mining and  web crawlers
etc.  I want to contribute to scipy by improving datasource and its
integrations like handling malformed URLs, proxy settings , other file
extensions support.
