 If I understand correctly, to implement the shift-invert modes we'll
 need to add a linear solver capability.  See

 for a description.

 With linear solver capability we can implement the other modes
 (right now only mode 1 is implemented).  See
 http://www.caam.rice.edu/software/ARPACK/UG/node41.html#SECTION00770000000000000000
 for the list of modes for real non-symmetric problems.
