 The geometric mean is only defined for positive values. Otherwise, for an
 odd number of negative values you'll have a complex number.

 It would be possible to define it for negative numbers, but it's rather ad
 hoc. Defining it for a zero value is more obvious by replacing the zero
 with a positive value, but the value to use will depend on what the mean
 is being used for.
