 Actually that's not correct. If you use what you call "n" normalization,
 you divide by N only once per fft,ifft. That means either in fft or in
 ifft (by convention it's mainly done in the ifft step). For unitary
 normalization you divide by sqrt(N) in both fft and ifft. You never
 multiply by N
