 Thanks, the patch is now much more easy to parse.  At a quick glance, it
 seems as though you did some work on __mul__ also.  Would it be possible
 to factor out the core of __mul__ and __rmul__? (I don't know, I'm just
 asking)  The .T functionality should maybe go in another patch (since you
 have a git repo already, this should be easy to separate out).

 While we'll need to add tests before this can be included, I think the
 solution is workable.  Would anyone else like to glance over the general
 idea?
