#1338: scipy.spatial.distance.pdist should be able to take any sequence as input

 Priority: normal | Milestone: 0.9.0
Component: scipy.spatial | Version: devel
 Keywords: pdist |

There's no reason why pdist should not be able to calculate distances
between arbitrary sequences of objects (e.g. lists of matrices), given a
 suitable metric function as input.

Attached is a patch which removes the requirement for argument `X` to be a
 rank-2 array.
