 Hi,

 the LOBPCG algorithm is designed for general Hermitian matrices, or self-
 adjoint operators for that matter.
 The current Scipy implementation only works for real-valued, symmetric
 matrices, mostly due to the use of .dot() instead of .vdot() is suppose.
 There is a MATLAB(R) implementation of LOBPCG around
 <http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/48-lobpcg-m> which
 could be used as a guideline here.
 Even better of course would be to let the user optionally specify an inner
 product to be used.
