 Ok. Typing before thinking is not good. I'm pretty sure I was right the
 first time. Consider this one, with the same result as your case except
 the dof difference (same means, no variance)

 d1 = np.ones(10)
 d2 = np.array([1,1.])
 stats.ttest_ind(d1,d2)
 (1.0, 0.34089313230206009)
 }}}

 And this one with what I was thinking the second time, which looks like
 what I'd expect (different means, no variance)

 d1 = np.array([ 5.,  5.,  5.,  5.,  5.,  5.,  5.,  5.,  5.,  5.])
 d2 = np.array([ 2.,  2.,  2.,  2.,  2.,  2.,  2.,  2.,  2.,  2.])
