#1530: Cauchy fit returns nothing in scipy 0.9.0

 Reporter:  gtg944q           |       Owner:  somebody
     Type:  defect            |      Status:  new
 Priority:  normal            |   Milestone:  Unscheduled
Component:  scipy.stats       |     Version:  0.9.0
 Keywords:  cauchy fit stats  |

Comment(by josefpktd):

 The default starting values and the interface of fit() has changed in
 0.9, and the option to fix parameters has been added.

 As a work-around, if you specify starting values, then it might still work

 {{{
 >>> x = stats.cauchy.rvs(size=200)
 >>> print stats.cauchy.fit(x, loc=0., scale=2)
 (-0.045806991604240468, 1.0032092893234763)
 }}}

 not sure about floc (fix location)

 {{{
 >>> print stats.cauchy.fit(x, floc=0., scale=2)
 [0.0, 2]
 >>> print stats.cauchy.fit(x, scale=2, floc=0.)
 [0.0, 2]
 >>> print stats.cauchy.fit(x, scale=3., floc=0.)
 [0.0, 3.0]
 }}}

 (I never checked the new fit function carefully.)
