Comment:

 I've fixed. The problem was the "S" parameter that was to low. The doc say
 that "S" should be (m-sqrt(2*m),m+sqrt(2*m)) where m=len(x).

 Anyway, I think that the error should be controlled.

 Here is the info that you requested:

 {{{
 Linux 3.6.3-1.fc17.x86_64 (Fedora 17, on Intel i7 vPro)
 Python 2.7.3 (default, Jul 24 2012, 10:05:38)
 [GCC 4.7.0 20120507 (Red Hat 4.7.0-5)] on linux2
 Numpy 1.6.2
 Scipy 0.10.1
 }}}

 Here in my job get crushed in a machine with Ubuntu x86_64 too.

 I've submitted the problem in stackoverflow
 (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13089395/scipy-bisplrep-segmentation-
 fault-core-dumped). People told me that they get crushed too.

 Thanks very very much for your help. Scipy and Numpy are excellent
 solutions. Greetings
