 If the issue is not compatibility with the CPU, then the remaining
 possibility is a bug in the C compiler on the platform, or in the BLAS
 library installed (see e.g.
 http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.python.numeric.general/34379
 http://mail.scipy.org/pipermail/numpy-
 discussion/2013-January/065247.html).

 The illegal instruction exception can only arise if there indeed is an
 illegal instruction in the code, and there are only a limited number of
 reasons when this can occur. That there is a bug in Scipy causing this
 rather unlikely.
