#1859: Sparse matrix subtraction with another matrix seems to regard the other
matrix as a scalar

Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: normal | Milestone: Unscheduled
Component: scipy.sparse | Version: 0.10.1
Keywords: sparse scalar subtract |

Comment(by photon.engine):
Thanks, I think I understand now. It has created a (3,) array of (3,3)
arrays, and (3,3) array + scalar is not generally desired. So the issue is
to avoid creating those (3,)-(3,3) arrays by not using numpy.dot(), but
I'm not sure if it's a real bug, or just a matter of the user calling the
wrong function and a (clearer?) warning message to the user should be
displayed. I'll leave this for others to decide.
By the way, I'm just being lazy and using SciPy from the quantal
repository.
