[SciPy-user] Problem building SciPy-0.6.0

   I upgraded my notebook from Slackware-11.0 to -12.0 so libc, gcc, etc. are
different. I've built ATLAS (and copied the *.a and *.so libraries to
/usr/local/lib), then sucessfully built and installed NumPy-1.0.4. But, when
I try 'python setup.py install' from the scipy-0.6.0 directory the attempt
immediately fails:

Traceback (most recent call last):
   File "setup.py", line 53, in <module>
     setup_package()
   File "setup.py", line 28, in setup_package
     from numpy.distutils.core import setup
   File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/numpy/__init__.py", line 43, in <module>
     import linalg
   File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/numpy/linalg/__init__.py", line 4, in <module>
     from linalg import *
   File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/numpy/linalg/linalg.py", line 25, in <module>
     from numpy.linalg import lapack_lite
ImportError: liblapack.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

   liblapack.so is in both /usr/local/lib and
~/python/ATLAS/ATLAS-linux/lib/.

   What am I missing here?

Rich
