Hi Pierre,

as you include gdal and ITK in python(x,y), you might also be interested 
to include OTB (Orfeo ToolBox) in the future. OTB is a toolbox built on 
ITK which enhances/extends ITK with geospatial-focussed processing nodes 
and some extra glue (e.g. to read and propagate geospatial info during
