You can run the tests as "scipy.test(verbose=2)" to see what's crashing.

I'd recommend to use a binary installer (either EPD or binaries from
sourceforge) to avoid problems. If you want to install from source, do
*not* use llvm-gcc. For recent XCode I think normal gcc is not available
(it probably still was in the description you linked to above), therefore
use clang.
