I got

python2.5 eggsetup.py bdist_egg upload

to work, and at the end it said:

running upload
Submitting dist/ipython-0.7.3-py2.5.egg to http://www.python.org/pypi
Server response (200): OK

The same command fails with py23/24 though:

tlon[0.7.3]> python2.4 eggsetup.py bdist_egg upload
['eggsetup.py', 'bdist_egg', 'upload']
usage: eggsetup.py [global_opts] cmd1 [cmd1_opts] [cmd2 [cmd2_opts] ...]
   or: eggsetup.py --help [cmd1 cmd2 ...]
   or: eggsetup.py --help-commands
   or: eggsetup.py cmd --help

error: invalid command 'upload'

If the above is not enough for egg users, please let us know and we'll
look into it.
