[IPython-User] ipython Notebook kernel error on Cygwin

I realize most non-Windows devs are like "'Cygwin'? - *yawn*" :D
I'm only posting because I think this is very close to working. iPython .12
itself is fine, and I can do 'ipython notebook' and hit it at localhost with no
issues. It's only when I try to create or access a notebook that things go south:

[NotebookApp] Using existing profile dir: u'/home/benalkov/.config/ipython/profi
[NotebookApp] The IPython Notebook is running at:
[NotebookApp] Use Control-C to stop this server and shut down all kernels.
[NotebookApp] Using MathJax from CDN

Operation not permitted (/usr/src/ports/zeromq/zeromq-2.1.11-1/src/zeromq-2.1.11
Aborted (core dumped)

And indeed I see a 'python2.6.exe.stackdump' in '~/'

I've seen suggestions regarding other cygwin 'Operation not permitted' errors
which were solved by running as admin; that doesn't help in this case.

The result of creating '~/Untitled0.ipynb':

 "nbformat": 2,
 "worksheets": []
