Correct, you cannot specify config for the underlying Controller / Engines
to the ipcluster script.  You must either use config files or start the
controller directly, with `ipcontroller --scheme=pure`

Yes, or if you want this to be your default profile, as your first command
suggests, you can do

ipython profile create --parallel

to add the parallel config files to your default profile.
