Well, http://fperez.org/py4science/numpy-pep225/numpy-pep225.html is on 
the table, and it really is primarily about getting a matrix 
multiplication operator ("because MATLAB has it"). There aren't too many 
other uses; even in matlab, "+" and ".+" does the same thing :-)
