If this is not a bug then it is very unclear documentation, and an
 incorrect installer message.

Starting from the main Scipy site one would instinctively go to Downloads,
and then read that 'Official releases are on SourceForge download site
for scipy.' Knowing that you have Python 2.6 pre installed you would take
 the suggested scipy-0.7.2-py2.6-python.org.dmg.
When trying to run the installer package is does prevent you installing it
 with the message

'scipy 0.7.2 can't be installed on this disk. scipy requires System
 Python 2.6 to install.'

If this package is not supposed to work with the 'System Python' it should
say so, if it depends on 'System Python' it should detect it. If by
'System Python' you mean the Python from http://python.org, not the Apple
Python then I think that must be clarified too.
