The debian version is "stable" (so not testing).
I located g2c-pic in /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/3.3.2/libg2c-pic.a

However, since the script is trying to do a 64-bit compilation, it is 
searching in
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/3.3.2/64/, where it is not available.
I asked the system administrator to provide this file.  I should 
probably wait until this has
happened before proceeding?
